Senior Business Analyst I

The Senior Business Analyst works closely with the lead and or other Senior Business Analysts and performs routine assignments as required. Also, completes limited phases of broader software development projects. This position is responsible for functions on projects of moderate to high complexity by working with business partners within multiple business functions to align technology solutions with business strategies; eliciting, documenting, and refining business requirements for the IT organization; serving as a liaison across multiple facets of the business community and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs; leveraging an informed knowledge of business areas to identify and/or resolve problems on an ongoing basis.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primarily responsible for reviewing and analyzing system problems to identify solutions or make referrals
  • Planning, designing and analyzing user requirements for development and/or support
  • Software engineering methodologies and basic system requirement identification and documentation analysis
  • The business analyst’s primary objective is helping businesses implement technology solutions in a cost-effective way by determining the requirements of a project or program, and communicating them clearly to stakeholders, facilitators and partners.
  • Determine operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats
  • Construct workflow charts and diagrams; studying system capabilities; writing specifications
  • Improve systems by studying current practices; designing modifications
  • Recommend controls by identifying problems; writing improved procedures
  • Define project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases and elements; forming project team; establishing project budget
  • Monitor project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions
  • Maintain user confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
  • Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Validate resource requirements and develop cost estimate models
  • Conduct and coordinate financial, product, market, operational and related research to support strategic and business planning within the various departments and programs of the client group

Required Skills:

  • Microsoft Access and/or SQL experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to impact operations and effect change without being confrontational
  • Detail oriented, analytical and inquisitive
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Extremely organized with strong time-management skills

Education:

  • Associate’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, economics, or a similar analytically-focused field of study.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Senior Business Analyst

Certifications:

  • IIBA, PMI certified is preferred
